Policy Objective 1:
Enhancing the competitiveness and extroversion of the regional economy through the promotion of innovative and smart economic and digital transformation.
The total Budget allocated to the Municipality of Piraeus for the implementation of the projects of Policy Objective 1 is €7,900,000.00.
Action 1
Support for the development of cooperative business schemes in Piraeus in the blue economy sector:
The project concerns the development and operation of a horizontal mechanism to support the development of cooperative business schemes in Piraeus in the blue economy sector, contributing to their orientation towards development interventions and supporting the Municipality in the implementation of the Blue Growth Strategy. The Strategy concerns entrepreneurship and innovation, job creation and development in the Blue Economy sectors in the Municipality of Piraeus. It offers a common strategic framework for the development of synergies between productive enterprises operating in the region, particularly in blue economy issues, enhancing their competitiveness and internationalization. At the same time, the project includes important awareness-raising and promotion actions, with the aim of developing synergies in the Piraeus region and beyond.
The mechanism to be developed by the Municipality of Piraeus will provide horizontal support to interested enterprises for the development of clusters with the aim of creating strong cooperative units with an export orientation.
At the same time, the Business Plan will be prepared for the establishment, operation and development of the Piraeus Cluster of businesses that will operate in the blue economy sector, as well as its promotion/branding.
Action 2
Actions to promote entrepreneurship of start-ups:
Through the Integrated Spatial Investment Strategy in the context of Sustainable Urban Development (ISI/BAA) of the Municipality of Piraeus, a comprehensive plan is being developed to improve the attractiveness and competitiveness of the city of Piraeus by exploiting comparative advantages, highlighting new business opportunities and supporting the adaptability of existing and the creation of new and innovative start-ups.
In this context, the present project concerns an integrated network of support actions, which focuses on strengthening the capacity of start-ups and existing start-ups, in order to exploit new ideas and enhance their competitiveness, so as to establish or maintain, expand and upgrade the business or exploit new ideas mainly in the sectors of the Blue Economy. The support mainly concerns the provision of specialized consulting services. The start-ups and existing start-ups will be selected based on specific objective criteria, in order to provide them with specialized entrepreneurship services in regular cycles per year.
The services provided concern, among others, a diagnosis of the needs of start-ups for support, a comprehensive basic information package on specialized entrepreneurship issues, mentoring and coaching, on market analysis, extroversion, business and marketing plan development, interconnection with potential financiers / financial institutions and support for the required actions. In addition, selected participants will be offered the opportunity to make organized visits to corresponding structures abroad and to interconnect with the international investment / business community. Also, selected start-ups, which will be characterized by high maturity, will be provided with a collaborative hosting space for a short period of time, in order to further advance the implementation of their business idea.
Action 3
Piraeus Municipality Entrepreneurship Support Center:
The Action concerns the maintenance, deepening, broadening, extroversion and expansion of the operation of the Entrepreneurship Support Center (ESC) of the Municipality of Piraeus. The first phase of the Entrepreneurship Support Center was funded by the Operational Program "Attica 2014-2020" and lasted thirty-six (36) months (03/10/2020-03/10/2023). It was an initiative of the Municipality of Piraeus that was part of the Blue Growth Strategy to support businesses in Piraeus with the aim of improving their operation, their development and enhancing their competitiveness.
In the "Operational Program Attica 2021-2027", the KSE constitutes a local mechanism-structure for the horizontal support of Piraeus businesses with the aim of improving their capabilities, their extroversion
and in general strengthening the local economy. The intended results through the action include, among others, the exploitation of the comparative advantages of businesses in the city of Piraeus and the highlighting of business opportunities through the support of existing and new businesses in matters of development and extroversion.
